I don’t know about you guys but the New Years eve seeing in the new year of 2001 saw my first gig. It was at a pub in Poole and I nervously started with a record collection given to me by another local DJ that provided Mobile Discos in Bournemouth.
My music knowledge was limited but we did have sticky labels on the hundreds of CD’s saying R&B, Dance, Party, Cheese, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and from these I played what I thought people would dance too and to my surprise (and delight) people reacted very well and I had people dancing and all night long, my dancefloor was full and once the end of the night arrived, the landlady gave me an envelope with £50.00 extra pay in it as a tip and a note to say how well I had done and how it was one of the best discos they had ever had in this specific pub.
For the chance to get your first DJ experience on this blog, email a paragraph to info@coastaldiscos.co.uk and we’ll put it up for people who want to be DJ’s to get inspiration from.
